The best part is, all you need are a few household cleaner and tools an d literally no amount of cleaning expertise. Read on for a thorough solution on how to remove red wine stains from your carpet.
#1: Blot, Wash and Repeat
There are two ways to get red wine stains out from your carpet and the first method involves using cold water, clean microfiber cloth and a paste of baking soda and water.
Begin with blotting the stain with clean white microfiber cloths or a clean towel. This will soak up all the excess wine leaving you to deal with only a small proportion left behind. Once you’ve blotted down the stain, use cold water to wash the discolored area. You’ll need to use a lot of water for this so we’re not specifying the exact amount. You should use enough water to dilute the stain completely which will make the next step easier.
Apply a baking soda and water paste on to the discolored area and leave it there for half an hour. Remove the paste and vacuum the stain dry. If there’s still some stain left, you should repeat the process.
#2: Bring in the Vinegar!
If the stain on your carpet is too stubborn, you might have to bring in the all-star cleaning agent: white vinegar. In this method, begin blotting the stain as you did before but instead of using cold water, use a mixture of warm water and one tablespoon of distilled white vinegar mixed with dishwashing liquid. Pour this mixture onto the stain using a sponge. Keep dabbing on the stain until it is completely removed.
